Part 141 vs. Part 61: What's the Difference?

When you're looking at flight training, there are two main options: Part 141 and Part 61.

Part 141 follows a structured FAA-approved plan, meaning fewer hours and faster completion—saving you time and money. Part 61, on the other hand, offers more flexibility with your schedule but requires more flight hours. Depending on your career goals, some airlines or international aviation authorities may prefer Part 141, so it’s worth chatting with our Admissions Team for guidance.

How Fast Can You Get Your Private Pilot License?

At SunState, we can have you ready for your check ride in just 6 weeks if you fly about 5-6 hours a week. We also offer flexible scheduling if you’re juggling work or school.

What Can You Do with a Private Pilot License?

With a Private Pilot License (PPL), you can fly anywhere in the U.S. You can carry passengers (though you can't charge for flights) and avoid road traffic for your trips. Just be mindful of weather until you get your Instrument Rating.
